Hello, I’m Sarina, an event designer and blogger! My blog, Joy in the Commonplace is all about parties, holidays, and DIYs! Fall is one of my favorite times of year! The cooler weather, the falling leaves, and all the yummy snacks are just a few reasons I love it. My family and I like to host harvest parties and I am excited to share a few fun ideas to entertain your family and friends this fall. Thanks Harbor + Pine for inviting me to share on your blog!

1) Set Up a Yummy Snack Station!

When it comes to hosting parties, I’m all about coming up with easy snacks that my guests will enjoy! A couple of fun ideas include putting together a popcorn bar or s’mores station!

Popcorn Bar Ideas

A popcorn station is so easy to put together! All you need are a variety of popcorn flavors and toppings to serve your guests! To treat my guests, I made pumpkin spice kettle corn. It’s super easy to make!

Pumpkin Spice Kettle Corn Recipe

Ingredients:
-1/4 Cup Canola or Vegetable Oil
-1 Cup Unpopped popcorn
-1/4 Cup Sugar
-1/8 tsp. Cloves
-1/8 tsp. Ginger
-1/8 tps. Nutmeg
-1/8 tsp. Cinnamon
Directions:
1 ) Take out a large pot and place on the stove over medium heat. Pour in the oil and unpopped popcorn. Then add sugar and all the seasonings. Stir everything together and place the lid on.
2 ) Let the popcorn kernels heat up until the popping starts!
3) Turn the burner down to medium-low and shake the pot back and forth every two minutes or so to prevent burning the bottom of the popcorn.
3 ) When all the kernels have finished popping, pour into a bowl, cool and enjoy!

S’mores Station Ideas

A s’mores station is always a hit with adults and kids alike! Who doesn’t love s’mores? It’s so handy to set up a s’mores station and let the guests make their own.

2) Roast Marshmallows Around a Campfire!

Is there anything better than sitting around a cozy campfire? Your guests can relax, visit, and roast marshmallows if they want to! If you have the ingredients for s’mores on hand, that’s a bonus!

3) Set up a Fall Photo Booth!

Fall is the perfect time of year to take family pictures! To encourage your guests to take photos, set up a simple photo booth for them to enjoy. All you really need are a few pumpkins or other simple fall decorations, but feel free to use other props you have on hand. I found that hay bales made great benches!

4) Mini Pumpkins or Gourds Party Favors!

I’m a huge fan of party favors but I’m all about keeping it cost effective! When I hosted our Harvest party one year, I gave away mini pumpkins and gourds! I thought they’d work perfect for decorating a front porch. We had a bunch of extras on hand, so it worked great to hand them out as party favors.

5) Host Sack Races for the Kids! (or adults!)

Are you looking for a way to entertain the kids? A good old-fashioned game of sack races is the way to go! I found our burlap sacks at Runnings, a local farm and fleet store. They are so perfect to bust out when we have friends over!
