A LITTLE PANTRY UPDATE!

It’s been a long time coming, but our little pantry finally got some much-needed love!! We wanted to replace and re-work the shelves for better storage and so we could hook up our microwave in there. It’s nothing fancy, but we love it and are so happy with the turnout!

Before

First, we ripped out the existing shelving, filled all the holes and nicks with spackle, then gave the walls a fresh coat of paint.

After deciding the spacing for the new shelves, we cut and installed the 2 x 2" shelf supports. Then we cut the 1/2" plywood and installed that on top. For the front face of the shelves, we used two inch strips of the same plywood with a 45-degree miter.

Once the shelves were installed, we primed, painted two coats of Sherwin Williams Pure White, and finished with a coat of Minwax Water-based Polycrylic to prevent any scratches or chipping.

The previous owners didn’t extend the tile floor into the pantry, so to make the floors level, my husband laid some plywood that we painted white to match the rest of the pantry.

There was no existing outlet in the pantry so my husband ran new wiring and installed the outlet for the microwave. I love the look of our kitchen even more now without the microwave in it and the extra counter space has been so nice!!

Our pantry was always kind of mess before and now it's been so much easier to keep everything organized! I can't believe it took us this long, but I'm so glad it's finally done!!
What do you guys think? Is there an area of your home you've been wanting to get organized too?
