HOW TO CREATE THE BEST WEDDING REGISTRY

I got married last September and learned a lot about the wedding planning process throughout the months prior. There are so many things that I think are important to know while planning such a big day in your life. One thing is setting up your wedding registry!

First things first, you SHOULD register for gifts! I know it may feel like you're like, "buy me all these things!!" Trust me, all of your guests will appreciate knowing exactly what you'd like.

Here are my top three favorite places to create a gift registry:

- Amazon Wedding Registry

- Target Wedding Registry

- Zola Wedding Registry + Website

And bonus! After your wedding, all three sites give you a discount on gifts that weren't purchased from your registry.

Here are a few tips that I think may help you while creating your gift registries!

  • Make them sooner than later! You would be surprised how quickly after you announce your engagement that people start asking, "where are you registered?"

  • Register in multiple places and make sure there is a wide variety of price points. All of your guests will have different budgets for buying your gifts, so make sure to have things that will accommodate everyone.

  • Put a lot of items on your lists! Make sure to have more options than guests you are inviting! Don't be afraid to add everything you need and want!

  • Add gift cards as gift options! Asking for money is not good etiquette, but this is the best way around that!

  • Take advantage of the group gift option. It's fine to add large/expensive items on your list because most registries allow for people to put money towards something instead of buying one thing called "group gifting".

  • Add experiences - This one is so cool! You can literally ask for people to fund experiences you get to have instead of physical gifts.

Top etiquette rule: DO NOT put your registry links on your wedding invitations. This is where creating a wedding website comes into play!

I am a huge fan of creating a wedding website because it's an easy place to inform your guests of everything they need to know...like where you are registered!

If you're not a fan of creating a wedding website, a cool little tip that I didn't know before now is that you can search for anyones gift registries on registryfinder.com! So if someone asks where you are registered and you don't have a wedding website to lead them there, this is a great option!
