New House Build: Kitchen Design Board

This past summer, Jason and I purchased some land in my little hometown, sold our current house, and made plans to build a new home…all kind of unexpectedly! In case you missed it, you can follow @harborandpine on Instagram and check out our new house build highlight for all of the details.

Ever since we bought the property, it’s been nonstop long days and late nights working on the house, but we are finally nearing the finishing stages and I’m so excited to be sharing the design boards that I’ve been working on for the past several months! And the kitchen is up first!

I’m honestly probably the most excited for the kitchen…okay and the master suite!! But mainly the kitchen because I truly believe it’s the heart of the home, and I love to cook and bake, and eat of course (haha!) So naturally it’s where I spend a lot of time!

In our current home, we have white cabinets and while you all know how much I love white, I knew I wanted to do something different in our new house! I saw this image on Pinterest (from Jenna Sue Design), I KNEW I wanted warm gray/greige cabinets!

We ordered Weston Sand Shaker Cabinets from RTA Cabinet Store and Lucky Jason is starting to put them all together this week! Haha God bless my sweet, hard working husband!! Oh, and we are also not doing any upper cabinets!! I love the clean and open look of this kitchen with the open shelves, so that is our plan! Though if we feel like we need more cabinet storage, we can always add in upper cabinets!

I’ve always dreamt of quartz counters and that was originally our plan to do in here, but the budget did not allow for it, so instead we are going to be doing white concrete counters! This will still give a similar natural stone look, but the cost is so much more affordable and the wait time is next to nothing! Jason plans to DIY them, so be sure to follow along on stories for more updates! Here’s the tutorial from Making Pretty Spaces.

The appliances have truly given us a run for our money, we ended up ordering THREE different refrigerators and gas ranges because everything has been out of stock! But hopefully we should have our hands on the appliances in the coming weeks! Other than the appliances snafu, everything in this space has come together pretty seamlessly and I’m just so excited!

Stay tuned for more updates coming soon! I’ll be revealing one space design board each week, and we’re hoping to move in by May! My fingers are crossed!
