Affordable DIY TV Frame

If you’ve been following along with us on Instagram, then you know our fireplace project has been at a standstill for the last couple months, but as of this week, it’s almost done! Part of the finished product was adding a frame to our Samsung Frame TV! The frame truly makes the TV look like an actual piece of art, it’s SO cool! However, I knew I wanted a gold frame (since we were doing a wood mantel), however, all of the pretty gold frames I found online were noooot cheap! Like literally $500.

So since that was definitely not in the budget, we figured we might as well try to make our own! And I’m so glad we did because it turned out so good and it only costed around $60 for the whole shebang! Follow these simple steps below to create your own.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

(2) 6’ sticks of pine door stop moulding (you may need more if you have a larger TV than us! Ours is the 43” Samsung Frame TV)

(4) 2” corner brackets

3/8” screws

Command strips

Wood filler

Paint or stain of choice (We used Ace Metallic Gold Plate Spray Paint)

TOOLS NEEDED:

Screw gun with a phillips bit

3/32 drill bit

Miter saw

Carpenter square

Clamp

Pencil

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Measure your TV screen width and height, to find the cut lengths for your frame.

  2. Measure, mark, and cut the four pieces of your frame at a 45 degree angle on both ends.

  3. Lay the pieces together on a hard flat surface and clamp them down to avoid movement while screwing them together.

  4. Place and pre-drill the corner brackets, then screw the pieces together using the 3/8” screws. Repeat this step for all four corners.

  5. Fill and sand any gaps in the corners.

  6. Then you can paint or stain (your choice!) and let it dry!

  7. Once the frame is dry, it will be ready to hang! Place the command strips on the TV first, one in each corner (you can add more strips if needed!), then peel off the command strip backing, line up your frame, and push it firmly against the TV.

  8. And there you have it! The frame should not interfere with the use of the remote or TV function at all.
