SOMETIMES THE HOLIDAYS ARE HARD

As much as I love the holiday season for so many reasons, sometimes it feels really hard and heavy as it seems to highlight our hurt. Whether you’re missing a loved one, struggling with an illness, aching to grow your family, or whatever it may be—the pain can feel unbearable at times, but you aren’t alone, the Lord is walking through it right there with you. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

The pain can be even more overwhelming when we feel like we have to keep it together and ignore it because the holidays are supposed to be happy and merry. But truthfully, we live in a world where things happen that are out of our control and sometimes they are really hard things that we don’t understand.

But the good news is that we don’t have to keep it together, we are loved by a God who covers us with His grace and holds us together in our brokenness by giving us the greatest gift—the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of His government and peace there will be no end.” Isaiah 9:6-7

Jesus is the ultimate and everlasting hope of the world, the true reason to celebrate Christmas, and even though it can feel so hard at times, please know that you are loved, safe, and so deeply cared for. And just as He holds the world together, He holds our hearts together too. “And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." Colossians 1:17. I’ll be praying for you, friend.
