A Look Back on 2021

I can’t even believe it’s the end of 2021! It feels like we blinked and it’s almost 2022! We thought it would be fun to reminisce and look back on some of our favorite moments and memories from this year!

January

We kicked off 2021 celebrating our official two year anniversary of Harbor + Pine!! Now we’re just about to come up on THREE years—crazy!! In mid January, we attended our very first home goods market in Atlanta, GA and brought our husbands along with us, which made it all the more fun! We can’t wait to go to the next market this March in Dallas, TX!

Bryana shared her Kitchen Remodel Reveal (still obsessed with it!), Favorite Coffee Makers, and I updated on all of My Favorite Natural Beauty Products.

February

We officially started renovations on the expansion at our storefront, Grace + Gather!!

In case you missed these blog posts from February: Natural and Neutral Backsplash Round up, The Perfect Sweet and Salty Snack Mix (Gluten and Dairy Free!), and Our Favorite Faux Plants.

March

Bryana and Brett bought a sprinter van to turn into a camper van to live in for the summer while they rent out their house on Airbnb! Isn’t that so fun?! Here’s a look at their camper van mood board!

While Jason and I were foster parents the past year, his parents so graciously took Rory in (our dog) while our hands were so full with the two littles, so when they moved to their forever home in March, Rory moved back home, and so as a little way to say thank you for dog sitting—we decided to surprise them with a Budget Bathroom Refresh (in a Week)!

Honorable mention blog posts from March that you don’t want to miss! How to Discover your Design Style, Our Go-To Stain Colors, 5 Simple and Affordable Updates for Your Home, and My Favorite Kitchen Essentials for Hosting.

April

Bryana and Brett completed a multitude of projects in their home, preparing to get it ready to list on Airbnb! Including this beautiful guest bedroom, complete with the perfect vintage gallery wall!

Bryana shared Our Favorite Flush Mount Lights and I gave all of my tips on How to Choose the Perfect Rug.

May

Our passion for all things home, decor, and design officially came to life as we officially launched our design business—Harbor + Pine Design Co.! Click here to read more about the services we currently offer!

Jason and I finally tackled a project that I had been dreaming about for so long—our DIY Modern Farmhouse Fireplace. Just in time for summer ;) But don’t worry, I still used it every chance I could!

June

Our Grace + Gather storefront expansion was finally complete and open for business! And with that, our lovely friend, Allison, owner Camp Coffee Co. joined us in this adventure and opened a cafe in our expanded space!! It’s been such a treat to have the best coffee in town right in our own storefront! If you haven’t stopped by Camp Coffee Co. yet, you don’t know what you’re missing—we highly recommend the Cafe Miel or Summit Latte, especially this season!

This month, Jason and I bought our first rental property!! We purchased a duplex with plans to fix one side up at a time and rent it out by fall…and well, if you’ve been following us for a little while now, you’ll know that things don’t always go as planned. So we are still working on that side, but Praise the Lord—the end is in sight!

We also celebrated 6 years of marriage in June with a little trip to Mackinac Island for the weekend!

July

Bryana and Brett were officially living the van life all month long! They moved around spots a few times where they were staying and even stayed in our yard for a few nights—it was like the ultimate best friend sleep over! Haha. To read more about the details of their Airbnb adventure, house tour, and links to some of the house projects they completed, click here!

I shared The Best Summer Fruit Dip (it’s honestly perfect for any season!!) and our Duplex Design Boards and How to Create Your Own.

August

Jason and I officially sold our first home (to the sweetest couple in the world!) and purchased some some land in town to started building a new house! We’re currently still living in our home and will be until the spring when *fingers crossed* our new home is complete!

Don’t miss these blog posts from August: Essentials for the Perfect Guest Bedroom, 3 Reasons Why I LOVE White Paint and a Round-Up of My Favorites!, How to Take Magazine Worthy Home Photos, and The Best of Summer 2021.

September

To celebrate their 3rd wedding anniversary, Bryana, Brett, and Tucker took their first big trip in their camper van to Maine! It looked so beautiful and also like a larger version of the Keweenaw! Haha.

This month we collectively decided to slow our roll on blog posts and social media, you may or may not have noticed, but we have been blogging quite a bit less and posting less as well. It’s crazy how much this has helped clear our minds and saved us from feeling burnt out—it’s impossible to do it all, all of the time, so we are choosing to do more of what brings us joy and peace! And I hope you do too!

P.s. Did you see the Impola Kitchen Reveal from September?! It’s absolute perfection, and we couldn’t be grateful to work with such amazing clients!

October

We hosted our first movie night at Grace + Gather with all of our friends for a Hocus Pocus themed Halloween party! It was so much fun and now has to be a tradition!!

For more details on the Halloween party, you can click here!

November

Bryana’s Modern Fireplace Reveal! Isn’t it so good?!

Most of November honestly feels like a blur because we were so busy getting ready for the holiday season! Oh and we celebrated my birthday with a fun little girls trip to Green Bay for some shopping and to see Jo Dee Messina in concert! We both grew up listening to country music, so it was so cool to see her in person and hear her testimony! Christ shines through her and her beautiful voice and music!

December

This month started out crazy and thankfully is ending on a slow(er) note. There’s so much prepping that goes into owning a retail business during the holiday season, so once the holiday rush is over, we enter a bit of a slower paced season with the new year. We will gladly welcome the rest, relaxation, and slowing down this time of year. We’re both excited to read (and listen to some new books) and catch up on all of our favorite shows this season!

Last week we had our annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party with the biggest charcuterie board I’ve ever seen. It was amazing and delicious!!! Who wants to see more charcuterie board content?! We make them for every event, big or small, so I think we have mastered the staple ingredients and then the seasonal add-ons

I love looking back at photos and posts, remembering all of the special moments and stories that are now memories! Click if you want to look back on 2019 and 2020.

As always, you all have truly been the best of friends to us throughout these last (almost) 3 years! We wouldn’t be here without you and couldn’t be more thankful for you! Happy New Year!!!

Love, Kendra
